NO PRINTING

Ass hole.. this thing is not working. That was the word from this lady teacher. She spend the entire morning trying to print her student's result slip. First, the internet connection fuck-up. The line seems to cut off without notice. The poor teacher has to refresh all the time as if she hadn't goes to the toilet for years. Second, comes the worst part. The printing just refused to cramped all the result into one single page, so she got the second "tail" page" which was totally useless. What a waste of paper. The bell rung, so got to go to 5A. Burger, the printing was still not successful. How come there was no frame on the table??

Call, ting tong............yoooooooooooo...here he comes. Easy bah. Go to tool, internet option, advance, printing, checked the background and colour, apply then Ok. Wallaaaa. it works. I commanded her to go to class, otherwise kena tingtong by principal or pekay. I help you print Ok, no worry.

So, the moral of the story : Get help!!

Ah.. after this got to learn English. I want to switch subject. Some more got guru pembantu!!! Aiya cannot talk chin-Chai Chin-Chai anymore. Read "The Star" everyday.

PTK - "PingTingKong"

One of the most challenging task that I ever took being a Guru TingTong is the registration of PTK. Seasons comes twice a year, I will not be able to sleep well. The pressure is from all my beloved colleague that is to do a flawless registration. I must not let anyone being left out from grabbing the opportunity to sit for this elusive exam. That is the time when my outgoing phone call will be in full steam. I will check and triple check to make sure that each one get the news that the registration is open. I click through my EMIS to make sure that no one MISS. People get really serious because the result from this exam will determine their quality of life tomorrow. It will decide whether they will be driving a merc or a sang kancil, eating kenny -rogers -fire-roasted chicken or chicken flavoured maggi mee.

I will surely get a staff or two who will be fuming if they were not inform of the opening and have to kiss goodbye to the coming season. I will get extra enemy if their registration goes blurrr..I know the feeling is that like the F1 driver who have to miss a lap if he fault a starts. OK, I still have the blessing of someone who still cares to comfort me with a few apples during Teacher's Day.

Good night everybody. Maybe I should stop whining. Now get to dig back my shelve to see if my thick Perintah Am book is still there. Who know it will be my turn to strike four the coming season. Dream on baby!

1. Give evidence that you have called/contact the student's
parents who failed to come during "Parent's Day".Let our HM deal with them directly. If those parents happen to see you first, show them the HM office and don't forget to wish them good luck.
2. Bring chair and desk in and out from class? Please return back. There will be new chair purchase.
3. Discipline, parent sometime worse than their kids. We have to be careful.


Today 29/4/2009
1. TPM+Menteri Pelajaran visit to Kuching. May drop to any school. Address him as "Yang Amat Berhormat Tan Sri". Form Teachers to remind students to keep clean. Teachers picking up rubbish are encourage, hoping that the student learned from us. Dtk Norizan did it and her students felt bad seeing her collecting rubbish.

2. Fire extinguisher is ready. It was installed higher. Warn the student, will pay double (250++) if they played with it. Impress the student to leave it alone.

3. Paul as one of the penyelaras disiplin. Thank you Paul. Discipline related to P&P do tackle on our part first.

4. Lasallian Convention on 3-6.6.2009, respective clubs please sent 1 person to join. Ability to work with other, influential in the club and responsible. Learn other leadership quality. Get the entry form from Stella and sign in before 15.5.2009

Monday Mess 27/4/09

Dark. I am scarced.

1. Thank you to all teacher who has helped during the Parish Sale.
2. Nama budak yang bapanya belum datang untuk mengambil report card mesti dihantar kepada pengetua. Bagi dia chance tingtong sama bapa atau emak budak itu. Zaman moden ini, ibubapa pun boleh degil. Macam kita ini kuli. Maklumkan kerajaan selalu kata " customer is always right".
3. Kes budak conteng meja dan dinding. Pertama, pesan budak supaya tidak conteng. dua, kalau ada conteng, cuba tangkap budak itu. Kalau tak dapat tangkap, bagi tau Mr sim, nanti dia atur pekerjanya catkan yang baru. Saya ada idea, kita bagi upah wang tunai RM50 kepada orang yang memberikan maklumat sehingga tertangkapnya si pemvandalisma itu. Jika bersabit kesalahan, kita denda 3 kali ganda. Ganda pertama, untuk menampung kos mengecat semula. Ganda kedua, untuk bayar balik kepada si pemberi maklumat. Ganda ketiga, guru kelas simpan untuk makan kfc atau diderma terus kepada tabung pembangunan (development fund) untuk membeli kerusi urut (Massage Chair OSIM)bagi cikgu-cikgu semua. Jemputlah saya untuk membuat perasmian kerusi urut itu.

4. Ada lagi kipas kelas berpusing. Orang-orangnya takda. Kita denda kelas itu supaya tidak memakai kipas selama 1 minggu. Hanya guru sahaja dapat pakai kipas. Itupun kipas USBnya yang disambung kepada laptop. Oleh itu, pastikan kelas monitor padamkan kipas sebelum pergi ke lab.

5. Guru kelas, bantulah saya bagi senarai nama budak yang liat datang pada hari persekolahan gantian pada sabtu lepas 25/4/09. Nanti saya kasi tingtong sama dia punya butt. Murid kata : "Atoii... suck it nya cikgu!!!!".

6. Kalau ada yang dah habis baca announcement ini dan masih ada masa free lagi, sudilah buat undian disebelah ni.

Minggu Paling Sibuk

Mengenang kembali minggu lepas merupakan minggu yang paling sibuk bagi kita semua. Sabtu ialah hari persekolahan penuh (tiada diskaun waktu). Tapi takpa sebab minggu ini ada cuti hari pekerja (dulunya hari buruh). Minggu ni pula, tangkap budak yang bawa handphone. Bagi satu rotan kat punggung. oh nooo... tak ada rotanlah. Hanya handphone dirampas dan handphone tersebut diperam dalam bilik pengetua selama 1 bulan. Bayangkan kalau semua handphone itu tak dipadamkan? Kemudian setkan bunyi kepada "tingtong-tingtong"?

Oh.. kita mesti ingat untuk bawa sedikit "maggi mee" atau "Kari ayam yeos" untuk cikgu Stella... la-sal-lee-yan. Jangan bawa belacan atau cincalok ok?

WAH! sekolah kita dah multi-tasking. Ni sure dapat jadi sekolah cemerlang. How nice is I can slim down at the same time keep my face smooth and shiny.

2. Pick something from the pigeon hole (when the pigeon is not around off-course). Letter to parent to be delivered by the students regarding bawa handphone. Kalau dia orang tak deliver, bagi dia satu strok atau denda cuci klinik.

ok.. Mechanic belum datang repair door bell saya lagi. Malam tadi masih tak boleh tingtong-tingtong. Any comment???

Friday Fun 24/4/09

1. Can for students who ponteng on 25/4/2009, hari gantian sabtu.
2. Students cannot bring handphone to school, directive from the school.
3. Swinburne debate. Won 2nd place....this I read in B Post. Example of activities we join...at least ada menang sikit lah.. OK give comment??
4. Parish Sale and Prefect Camp, going on this weekend. Be understanding if the prefect is around.
5. Pre-sale, Catholic Teachers Guild. Be a support. Kalau ada kupon, boleh digunakan.

Terrific Thursday 23/4/2009

1. Lower 6 list will be out about 2 days after 8/5/2009. Students can check thru website on 8/5/2009. Just used i/c number.
2. Saturday 26/4/2009, replacing 24/9/2009, hari raya holiday. Use thursday timetable.
3. Be on alert for tingkah laku samseng. Pihak sekolah dan guru dipertanggungjawabkan !!

Today I caned 1 student who lie to the PSK and Agama teacher. He said got tuition so cannot go to class after 1245. Mother says no leh... so get 2 strokes from me infront of 3 other teachers. Hopefully he got malu and don't do anymore.

Wet Wednesday 22/4/09

1. Keep our class clean and tidy at all time!
2. Change padlock? Give one copy for Mr Raymond Sim.
3. Do not simply lock your classroom. Other people also want to use.
4. Control students going to the toilet. One pass, one(1) person (not 5!).
5. This week got prefect training camp. They will be sibuk. We all must understand ok?. Lagi pong they all help out with parish sale.
6. Pre-Parish Sale. Catholic Teachers Guild will sell some apple. Coupon can use but money also can bahhhh... Come support them ok.
7. PPSMI teachers, meet mr Chong at right wing, recess.

Train Pain

Aduhhh.. sakit cikgu. Kaki sakit badan sakit, lutut sakit.

Me : Apa??? cikgu pun sakit. HATI sakit. Banyak komplen punya budak. Bagi sebiji buku lima kat dahi baru tahu. First day training dah mengadu sakit. Belum lagi jadi warga emas!!!

Parent Oh Parent!

Parent's day is over.

One parent complained that his son has a low appetite to study. The reasons is because he(his son) has been addicted to computer game. I asked him to set a password for his computer so that he can control his son's gaming time. I almost broke into laughter when this parent told me that he just bought a laptop for his son.

No wonder...like father like son. So why complain?

Sometimes my bell doesn't ring so well.

FIGHTING INDISCIPLINE

Today WAS a hectic day for me as I have attended the regular Disciplinary Board Meeting. As this was the first meeting chaired by our new principal, we have a lengthy discussion revolving around the same old stories of indiscipline amongst our students. Indeed his experience in his former school is invaluable. Today we emphasize on strict enforcement on our school rules and regulations. Off course this will be possible after the R&R is spelled clearly and being understood by everyone in the school community.

Just an overview of indiscipline at school

Over the last decade, the standards of discipline are fast deteriorating in the school environment. School is just not what it used to be anymore as very few schools are able to maintain the same standards of behavior as before. May be the teachers' do not have that same confidence and commanding personality as they used to. Or maybe work pressures have increased to such a degree that all the teachers can think of is completing the curriculum on schedule. Some of them took their lesson too fast that most students will be left out. Quite obviously, most of them seem to lack the dedication to go beyond the call of duty and the syllabus and contribute to the all-round development of the child.

One can not really blame them entirely, when you observe the huge number of children in each classroom, and the added burden of paper work loaded to the Form Teacher. To top all of this, the number of subjects and books have also increased tremendously and most children are finding it difficult to cope with these extra burdens like homework and course work. Most parents too, reason why they send their children for tutorials and serve to further increase their load. It is a vicious circle. Not only this, today's education system(that emphasize on the ability to memorise) does not prepare the child for employment. The curriculum is far removed from practical knowledge and this makes the child's mind and feet wander. Asked around how many students can hold and used the screwdriver properly? So as we can see, the basic fault lies with the education system.

So what can or should we do?

If the child is offered practical courses at the technical school that cater to his requirements, he will have a purpose and therefore less time to indulge in indisciplined behaviour, hopefully. Encourage students that is "allergic" to books and pen to apply and enter the SMTs. His restlessness will be curbed, as he will be better occupied. But until then, it is the duty of the teachers to help the students to cope with the load and to find a workable solution for those children who are breaking under the pressure. The parents too can contribute by spending quality time with the child, and taking a deeper interest in what is happening at school by actively involved in PTA's activities and discussions. They should make an effort to meet the teachers and find a solution to make their children's' schooling more productive and satisfying. They should come to meet their teachers during "Parent's Day". Once the child realises that his parents are really interested in his welfare he might be willing to meet them halfway, rather than demanding his own way all the time.

So...Let work together to curb indiscipline of our students. This will guarantee better exam result and a pleasant workplace.

ADAPTING TO HIS STYLE

I guess its not easy to adapt to a new environment and a new style of work culture. Many will find it hard to swallow "that's my style" sort of working concept. Being new to the school, the new principal has the privilege to re-mould the whole school towards a new work culture. The key word will be "Work Hard" and "Be truthful" in whatever you do.

Working hard is no alien to a person whom has work in the private sector. Not prevalence in the public sector, it is not easy for us to adopt this work culture. One has to accept the fact that, they are paid to do the job. So never be lagging and wake up and do the job well.

I don't know how many people will be awake for the next couple of week but I am sure the principal will have some sleepless night thinking of ways to propel our school into greater height. He will have to grapple with the dilapidated school, the almost zero account book, snaky staff and problematic pre-puberty kids. First, he has to make sure in this two week, that none of his beloved-to-be students and male teachers untucked their shirt in(out).

Last but not least, I wanted to salute those teachers who listened attentively during the off-timed staff meeting on saturday afternoon. Sure, we will have a great time with our new principal in the next few years to come. Be prepared with your antivirus software. Ensure that it is updated regularly in order to avoid your computer from being infected by unexpected virulent virus.

NEW HEAD

Today mark a new era for my school. We officially got our new headmaster after a long 6 month headless. All eyes were on him as he delivers his first school assembly speech. Every words and sentences were scrutinized by both students and teachers. Being a discipline teacher, today is a wonderful day for me as there were not a single misbehaved amongst the students. How I wish that this scenario will last forever.

Anywhere, whatever word(s) that we pick up, I hope that all of us will work together with him to propel our school to greater height. I am confident that a lasalle headmaster will do good to the school.

so.....selamat bertugas pengetua baru dan kita dah jadi guru barunya!!!.

NEW PENGETUA..NEW BEGINNING

Sorry.. its been a long time I didn't touch the blog. Hopefully its not mental block.

Well after the CNY holiday, the brain is getting heavy again. You know, after stuffing ourshelves with the new year goodies. So got to tingtong my laptop. to get my hand and finger moving. Burned some calories.

OK so after the long wait at last we got our new headmaster this morning. Welcome Mr Lau!
Hopefully you will get along well with all the staff.
